Experiential Learning
Project 1
Research Assistant with the Social Cognitive Development Lab
For this experiential learning project, I worked as a research assistant with the SCD Lab. This involved going into the lab 9 hours per week to work on tasks such as data entry and coding, transcription of recorded phone calls, and recruiting participants for studies. I participated in this activity for both of my first two quarters at the UW (winter and spring 2018). This activity was perfect for my interests because it put me in the research setting. I got a good idea for what the research process looks like, and how I can get involved during my undergraduate years. Below you will find buttons that take you to see my experiential learning application and my reflection from this activiy.
Project 2
Study Abroad in the Netherlands
For my second experiential learning project, I went abroad with the Honors program to Amsterdam and Delft. This program took place over the course of 4 weeks during the summer of 2019, and was focused on innovation in libraries, museums, and other public institutions. As part of my time abroad, I created a blog documenting my time there, as well as wrote a reflection. This activity was perfect for me because it investigated a topic completely new to me (library/information sciences), and allowed me to explore new places. Rather than focusing on how the individual is affected by social institutions, as I often do in psychology, I examined how institutions support the individual.
