Road sign at the entrance to the Highlands

Today I took a day trip by bus to the Highlands, Loch Ness, and Glen Coe. It was by far my favorite thing I have done so far in Europe--everything was beautiful and our weather was absolutely perfect for the trip!

Loch Ness was much bigger than I expected, and also much more normal looking. I expected more spooky fog and some places to look for the Loch Ness monster, but it was more just like a normal lake. It was still very beautiful, though! We got off the bus and took a cruise on the lake which dropped us off at Urqhart Castle.

There wasn't much castle to see, mostly just some walls that were left over, but it was a nice viewpoint for the Loch. From there we traveled to Glen Coe and then returned to Edinburgh! We also made a lot of short stops along the way in smaller rural towns, which were really adorable and hospitable. In total, the tour lasted about 12 hours. I would highly recommend for everyone to come to Scotland just for this tour because it was so breathtaking.
