This morning started with a tour of Edinburgh Castle, but before we even got all the way to the tour I spilled coffee all over my white shirt. Since my hotel is so far from the city center I decided it wouldn't work to go back, and instead just went ahead with the tour in a stained shirt. I didn't take any pictures of myself there, though. The tour was definitely interesting, but it didn't actually include entering any of the building in the castle, we just walked around the premises and stood outside the buildings. Our guide had lots of stories to tell and he was very engaging, but I think I might've done better to just go on my own and see what interested me. Good thing the tour wasn't much more expensive than just the cost of entering the castle! After the tour I dashed down to the bottom of the hill closer to the shopping district and bought myself a new t-shirt to wear for the rest of the day. Then I dashed back up the hill for my underground vaults tour. Turns out the vaults aren't actually underground! It was very cool to hear the story behind the abandoned bridge and all of the histories that come with it. Post-tour I headed back to the store where I bought my shirt because I had my eye on a dress there and wanted to buy it after thinking about it more. All of the morning walking definitely wore me out so I came back to the hotel before heading out for a comedy show. All of August in Edinburgh is Fringe Festival which is basically just a lot of cool arts and comedy performances, so I figured I should capitalize on it. I first saw Space Cops: Badass Be Thy Name and it was hilarious!! They had another show immediately after so I decided I should go to that one too. On my way out the door, someone offered me a free ticket for the second show so I ended up getting two-for-one! Both were hysterical and I would definitely recommend them, or even see them again. Once again, we had beautiful weather (uncharacteristic for Edinburgh) and it was a great day!
